Two of my friends painted their Living Rooms very dark colors.In both living rooms there was a lot of white-mouldings,windows,bookcases and a lot of natural light during the day. The result-very striking! They are Hasbrouck Brown(HC 71) by Benjamin Moore and Canterberry(6222) by C2 Paints.
A few of you asked to see the window treatments in full so here they are! Again, the color is Beehive made by C2 paints.

This is a great yellow especially for a cloudy day! It is called Polenta(3044) and is another C2 paint color.
This is a great color. Depending on the time of day and the light in the room this color can read sage or a light putty. It is called Fossil (7391)and is made by C2 Paints.
This is another great brown. it is called Reindeer(7328) by C2 Paints.
Here is another favorite green.This one is made by C2 Paints and is called Saguaro (4094). There is also (not pictured) Wasabi(4080)made by C2.While Saguaro has some blue tone in it,Wasabi has a bit of yellow. I have used both for family rooms,living rooms,mudrooms and kitchens for different clients.
This client wanted a pop of raspberry somewhere so I suggested we paint her Family Room red/raspberry. She was really not sure at first but when we looked at how much white she has with her skylight,bookcase and big windows she felt more comfortable with the idea. Now she reports it is by far her favorite room because at night it has a very warm feeling and she feels cozy in the room. The color is made by C2 Paints-it is called Bombay(1084).
I needed a very strong yellow to go in my family room and kitchen area. It was tricky because there were huge spaces of wall but also a lot of small spaces that created shadows that dramatically changed the color. In addition I needed to match it to the wallpaper in my mudroom which is made by Farrow and Ball. I finally settled on Frittata(3058) but added 75% white-otherwise it was reading too orange-y. Frittata is made by C2 Paints.
